A gym for Caisse employees
The 1500 employees of the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec will soon be able to fight stress by taking a break in a gym specially designed for them.
A health centre will be opening in September on two half storeys in the Montreal Herald Building in Downtown Montreal, which is one of the buildings making up the Complexe CDP Capital, the new headquarters of the Caisse de dépôt.
While at the gym, Caisse employees will even be able to consult specialists to receive advice on nutrition, obesity and smoking.
Management of the gym will be assigned to the Quebec company, Olympe, which specialises in the management of workplace fitness centres.
“It is a service which falls within the scope of health management,” explains Louis Garneau, senior consultant, public affairs, at the SITQ, a subsidiary of the Caisse de dépôt, which specialises in real estate.
The fitness centre will be reserved for use exclusively by the tenants of the Complexe CDP Capital, who must also purchase memberships to be able to access it. The membership fee has however not yet been announced.
Louis Garneau also gave no specific details on the construction costs associated with the project.
“It falls within the overall operating budget of the SITQ,” explains the spokesperson for the Caisse, who also mentioned that work on the project will begin, if not over the coming days, then over the coming weeks.
Mr. Garneau further emphasized that the health centre will be built on “hard to rent” space in the Montreal Herald Building, whose current tenants are law firms, Alliance Atlantis Vivafilms and Presima, another Caisse subsidiary.
The Montreal Herald dates back to 1913, and is located behind the W Hotel, on Saint-Antoine Street, between Jean-Paul-Riopelle and Square-Victoria Streets.
